What is the High Desert Stampede?

Early in 2014, a small group of experienced rodeo producers, athletes and local business owners set out to elevate the world of professional rodeo while Bringing you the Stars in Central Oregon in what eventually became the High Desert Stampede.  

It took countless hours, volunteers and community partners for the first ever High Desert Stampede to take place in September of 2015 at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. This first ever production was well run with ample local support which didn't go unnoticed by the athletes, long standing rodeo professionals or the community.  

Late in 2015, those long standing rodeo professionals presented a new option never before available to a rodeo committee.  Aiming to deliver the top athletes in each event in a championship type circuit, the Elite Rodeo Athletes (ERA) was set to launch an unprecedented shift in the rodeo world.  At this, the directors of the High Desert Stampede jumped to be a part of.  Never before had they been able to guarantee the appearance of so many top athletes and pair them with the best animals!  

March 25 & 26, 2016 marked the second High Desert Stampede rodeo and the first ever ERA Premier Tour stop.  All of Central Oregon and beyond was energized by the elite athlete and animal appearances.  With attendees from international destinations and a strong local showing, nobody left disappointed!  

We're excited to return March 31 and April 1, 2017 for the next High Desert Stampede in Redmond, Oregon!  See you at the rodeo!
